Maintaining clean heating, ventilation and air–conditioning (HVAC) systems is an important part of sustaining acceptable indoor air quality (IAQ). Here is how the procedure for Duct Cleaning is done by us:
There are several ways to clean an HVAC system. We utilize “Source Removal,” the mechanical cleaning of system components to remove dirt and debris. We follow all guidelines set forth by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) as published in the Assessment, Cleaning & Restoration of HVAC systems. Click here to view

Before entering your house, the technician will take off their shoes. We will do a quick inspection of the system to plan our mode of cleaning. Before commencing any work, the technician will turn the power to the system off. We will then begin to load all tools and equipment to begin the lengthy procedure.
The technicians will utilize our High Powered Vacuums (either from the truck, or brought directly into the furnace room) and hook up to the main ductwork to put the system under a negative pressure. We will use tarps to cover the flooring to protect against any possible damage or mess.
All equipment used conforms to NADCA Standards
If no access holes are made from an existing job, a new access will be made to allow for hook-up of the vacuum hose into the ductwork in the basement. Most companies charge extra, but this is part of the cleaning service standards. There is no extra charge for this and MUST be done.
All access panels are closed according to NADCA Standards
The technician will then run a compressed air line from the truck, to the top floor of your home. There is approximatly 200 feet of airline installed on our trucks and runs up to 250psi.
Once all tools and equipment are hooked up and ready to begin, the vacuum will be turned on putting the system under a negative suction pressure.
The picture shows the portable vacuum we use in some homes. We need clear and sufficient access around the furnace area when this equipment is being used. We can run 75 feet of hose maintaining a sufficient suction level to remove the debris from you system and contain it in the collection bag.
The technician will then use miscellaneous devices to agitate and lift all dust and debris from the ductwork and then begin to blow high pressurized air throughout all supply air vents pushing all debris down into the main ductwork in the basement. Access into each vent is necessary.
The technician will then repeat the process for all return air vents in the home. All return grills must be removed in order to properly access the ductwork. Painted grills may chip, but we will do our best to carefully remove them.
Once all vents are cleaned thoroughly, the technician will then use special agitation devices in the main supply and return ductwork in the basement and then use an air brush to push all dust and debris to the vacuum
The technician will inspect the system before completing any work to ensure the removal of all dust and contaminants.
Make sure the company inspects the ductwork and doesn't just tell you its clean. Seeing is believing.
All access holes will be sealed air tight using a 10"x10" sheet metal and will be duct taped to provide an air tight seal for the ductwork. 1" black plugs will be used to seal the access holes made throughout the ductwork in the basement for the air lines to be inserted.
All access panels are closed according to NADCA Standards
The technician will then turn the system back on, and place a sticker on the furnace indicating the work that has been completed and when the next scheduled cleaning should be done. On average it is done every 3 years.
The technician will then outline the maintenance required for the system and equipment you have such as your humidifier, air filters, air cleaners, etc. and make any recommendations,. We stock all filters on our trucks to save you a trip and money to your local home depot. Finally, and most importantly, THANK YOU FOR YOUR BUSINESS
